Like a gatehouse annexed to the city walls, the building that houses this modern studio apartment is the first thing one encounters when entering the Old Town through the Buza Gate. The apartment has been completely renovated and cleverly designed to maximize space; as a result, it is much roomier than the word ‘studio’ implies. The large living space contains a queen-sized platform bed, two sofabeds (one double, one single), and a small alcove with kitchenette. Like something out of a 1960s spy movie, a mirrored closet door conceals another mirrored door behind which is hidden an ultra-modern bathroom with shower. Large skylights (with electrically-controlled shades) provide lots of natural light while modern artwork, batik prints, and eclectic decorative accent pieces add a personal touch and lots of character to this comfortable apartment. There is also a shared terrace in front near the street entrance where guests can sit and watch the busy Old Town life go by.
Amenities include satellite TV, DVD player, CD stereo system, washing machine, coffee maker, hairdryer, and air conditioning. Portico is situated 112 steps above the main street Stradun, so when arriving with luggage guests are advised to use the Buza gate entrance to Old Town which greatly reduces the amount of stairs to just one flight.
